The Correlux C-3 correlator is intended for localization of leaks in pipelines with drinking water. Water flowing out of the pipeline creates noise at the leak site, which spreads in all directions along the pipeline.
This noise is recorded by two sensors (piezomicrophones, hydrophones) located on the pipeline (for example, on valves or hydrants), further amplified and sent via radio to the correlator.
The Correlux C-3 compares both signals (correlation) and calculates the exact distance to the leak based on the time of arrival of the signals, the distance to the sensors and the propagation time of the signal in the pipeline.
