Fault Converter is an addition to reflectometers and is used to detect wet defects, especially in communication cables. The measuring signals of the reflectometer receive, thanks to the Fault Converter, an additional potential for direct voltage up to 200 V with changing polarity.
This change in DC voltage causes a galvanic response at the beginning of the damp or wet area of the cable, which can be observed on the display of the reflectometer in the form of changes in signal amplitude. As an OTDR, a device with two measurement inputs, such as Digiflex Com or Easyflex Com , is required, as changes are best seen in comparative measurement or in IFL mode.
