The ETF (Energie-Trennfilter) 3 kV serves to locate faults in symmetrical communication and control cables. The combination of a piercing unit, 3 kV ETF and a reflectometer allows fast pre-localization of high-resistance and especially wet cable faults.
ETF 3 offers a solution primarily for cases where the permitted operating and test voltages are limited and, as a result, traditional methods of burning and fault localization are not possible.
The burning process can be observed directly on the screen of the connected reflectometer. Due to this, the moment of defect transformation and the distance to the damage site are immediately determined, which allows burning in a “cable-friendly” mode and limiting its time to the minimum required.
